Military and security abuses cannot prevent peaceful protest in Syria

We currently have the names of 22 protesters killed by security forces today. There were two protesters killed Daraa, 11 from Idlib, 3 in Damascus, 5 from Lattakia and 1 from Qalmoun, a Damascus suburb.

The number of protests in large cities is growing. More than 60 protests were reported at the time this was sent, including 15 in and around Damascus and 12 in the City of Homs and five in the City of Aleppo.

Attempts by the military and security to prevent protests has failed in several towns and cities. Duma, Homs, Binish and al Qaboun have all managed to have large demonstrations despite the use of check points, snipers and heavy gunfire last night.
We have reports that tanks were firing on homes in several Idlib towns. We also have reports that security has fired on ambulances carrying the wounded there.

Demonstrations are taking place Tal Kalahk after weeks of government intimidation.

We ask that the Turkish government allow journalists to talk to the thousands of Syrian refugees that have fled into Turkey over the last few days following the violent repression in Jisr al Shogour.

UN Security Council: Turkey has announced today that they would agree on a declaration condemning Syria for the human rights violations which should be approved by the UN Security council. The LCC is calling now on Russia to follow Turkey’s example and support the declaration in the council.
