Update 17:00
Day to call on the Army: in many towns, people called on the soldiers not to shoot their own people. “Tens of thousands of people in every part of the country sent a clear message to the army – do not participate in the crimes that the regime and the security forces are committing on our people,” Yassin Al Haj Saleh, writer and political analyst said. “The Syrian people are waiting for our army to take a clear stand. They must refuse to occupy our cities and kill our people. The army should protect the people instead of following the cruel order of a corrupted dictator to oppress people calling for freedom.” Across the country people chanted “Army and people are one!”
Demonstrations have reached a new level of coordination: For the first time since the beginning of the protests, demonstrations managed to coordinate and merge with other demonstrations. In Idleb, Homs and around Damascus, demonstrations started from different places and then merged in a central location. “Our plans of merging different demonstrations has been very successful in different cities,” an activist from the Local Coordination Committee in Damascus said. “Every week we are working to improve our coordination. Today we were able to coordinate not only within a single town, but also between several towns,” a member of the Local Coordination Committees of Syria (LCCSyria), an umbrella organization of the local Committees said.
Confirmed Demonstrations: So far we have confirmed reports of more than 40 demonstrations – for a list and the map check www.lccsyria.org/map .
