The regimes’ atrocities against the people of Wadi Barada villages while they continue with their peaceful demonstrations calling for liberty and toppling the regime.
Our latest demonstration went out in “get out” Friday and was faced with a large number of security forces at Ein Al-feejeh village and we were attacked with intense tear gas grenades shelling. This attack resulted in many cases of suffocation even among the people who were staying inside their houses during the attack as the village is located on a low altitude with mountains tightly surrounding it. After the demonstration, 5 buses and countless number of cars were cruising the peripheral streets and the remote residential areas chanting for Bashar Al-Assad to provoke the people.
Members of the party threatened people to report anyone who they think he/she might be involved in demonstrations and there were threats to parents to kill demonstrating children. Not to mention that those party members are performing intensive patrols between groves and near the river especially at night when we demonstrate and chant “God is the greatest”, even though we chose those routes so they wouldn’t recognize us. They are also monitoring the schools’ walls and roads, in order to prevent any attempt of graffitying statements against the regime. A group has been formed to roam around most families to ensure nightly demonstrations are not formed, either by persuasion or threat.
We at Wadi Barada, despite provoking and repressional actions by the regime, reconfirm our commitment to the principals of our peaceful revolution, unifying our country and people. We will continue our peaceful revolution until the regime is ousted.
