Qamishli: Opposition figure Mashaal Tammo survived an assassination attempt last night. Gunmen, probably a Shabiha death squad, used a car and a motorcycle to intercept the car in which Mashaal, his son Marcel and activist Zaheda Rashkeelo were riding. The assassins mistimed the attack, giving Marcel the chance to turn the car around and escape.

Daraa: Nawa: army and security forces pursue protesters setting out from the Omar Bin Al-Khattab mosque and open fire on them.

Daeel: Communications have been cut, leading to fears that the city will be stormed.

Daraa: All communication (land and mobile) have been cut off in the governate.

Damascus Suburbs: Tal: Heavy gunfire directed at demonstrators around the Al Rifai mosque and in the Al Biea area. Security forces trying to arrest demonstrators.

Idlib: Over 10,000 demonstrators gathered in Ma’arshoureen from the eastern villages of Maaret Al-Nouman. A second demonstration with thousands of participants in Ma’artahrama. A third in the city of Maaret Al-Nouman.

Homs: electricity and communications are cut off in Talbiseh.
